IUI in Mumbai: Questions Before Choosing a Treatment Cycle
Intrauterine insemination, or IUI, places prepared sperm into the uterus around ovulation. Whether it is a sensible option depends on the fertility assessment, not simply on its being less complex than IVF.

Check the reason for the recommendation
The condition of the fallopian tubes, semen findings, age and other factors affect suitability. A cycle may use medicines or follow natural ovulation. If medicines are used, monitoring matters because developing too many follicles can increase the risk of multiple pregnancy and may require cancellation.
Ask what has been established about your situation and what uncertainty remains. “Try IUI first” is more useful when accompanied by a reason and a plan for review.
Understand the appointments
Request a cycle outline covering scans, timing, sperm collection and the pregnancy test. Ask which appointments can be predicted and which depend on monitoring results. This helps with work and travel arrangements without assuming that every cycle follows the same timetable.
Clarify who to contact if a medicine dose is missed or an appointment becomes difficult to attend. Do not change the timing yourself.
Set a decision point
Discuss the expected chance of success in your circumstances, the number of cycles you might consider and what would lead to a different approach. Request an itemised estimate rather than comparing only the headline procedure fee.
An unsuccessful cycle does not by itself explain why pregnancy did not occur. A planned review is an opportunity to decide whether another cycle remains reasonable rather than continuing automatically.
